What to see
A walk in one of the protected areas surrounding Ostiglia, a bike ride along the Po, a dip in the swimming pool, a visit to the Museum of Medieval Towers, a dinner in a trattoria to try the local cuisine… these are just some of the experiences you can have when you visit this ancient village in the Mantuan area.
There are those who choose Ostiglia as a base from which to explore the cities of art located a short distance away, there are those who choose it to treat themselves to a break while travelling along the famous cycle routes of the Mantuan Oltrepò, and there are those who choose it to spend a few days in a relaxing setting, far from the noise of the big cities.
Whatever the reason that brought you to Ostiglia, here are some tips on what you can do and see in and around the village.
A bike ride along the Po
Important cycling routes pass through Ostiglia, such as the Eurovelo 8 and 7 routes, VEenTo, which connect the Mantuan Oltrepò with Europe and the ancient Via Claudia Augusta Padana. Ostiglia is the ideal stop for a break!
Walking in nature
The village of Ostiglia is embraced by three protected areas, which are part of the Sistema Parchi Oltrepò Mantovano. Ideal for a nature walk, alone or in the company of a guide.
Discovering history
From Cornelio Nepote to Arnaldo Mondadori, from the Archaeological Museum to the Museum of Medieval Towers: Ostiglia tells a story that spans the centuries and that you can discover by visiting the village and its cultural venues.
Delighting at the table
After a nice bike ride, a walk in nature or a visit to the museum, there is nothing better than sitting down to a meal! Don’t miss the Risotto alla Pilota and Torta Ostiglia, protagonists of the local cuisine.
